On March 1st last year I ringed a Goldfinch with a wing of 84mm which is outside the parameters expected. The assumption is that birds in this category, particularly finches, are of continental origin. I was surprised to re-trap the same bird this morning and it may have just been an exceptionally big bird of British origin.
