 Post subject: Wash boat trip 23/09/12

A South Lincs RSPB boat trip along the Haven, Welland and Wash today produced 76 species including;

Purple Sandpiper - flew up the Welland and landed beside the boat
Arctic Tern - 1
Little Tern - 2
Arctic Skua - 7
Guillemot - 4 including one by Haven Bridge in Boston
Pink-footed Goose - 1
Dark-bellied Brent Goose - 8
Gannet - 15
Marsh Harrier - 6
Common Buzzard - 2
Peregrine - 1
Merlin - 1
Common Sandpiper - 4
Kingfisher - 2
Alexandrine Parakeet - One in Boston thought to be this species. Generally green with red forewing patches in filght. Dark neck collar and red(?) bill. Very long tail grading from green to yellow/green. Larger than Ring-necked with much more pleasant call.
Common Seal - 15

Hi Derek,

There are two in October this year for the first time, but unfortunately like all the others they book up very quickly and I believe they are full. You can check out details via the South Lincs RSPB Local Group website (which will also carry information about the 2013 cruises).
