Great news, Aidan. I had 8 Spotted Flycatchers at Linwood Warren last Sunday. I hope your 4 stay around at least until tomorrow (I doubt it but I could be lucky), when I plan to revisit.......perhaps new ones might arrive? Were your birds in the belt of trees (mainly Pine) running parallel to the road? My 8 last Sunday were in those trees about 200 yards from the Reserve entrance.

Dear Freddy,
The Spotted Flycatchers I saw were in the trees next to the main entrance. I also think I may have seen a Nuthatch there but
it was only a fleeting sighting. Good Luck.

Aidan

Aidan,

Thanks for your reply but I actually went to Linwood Warren on Saturday 8th September........see my post under "Spotted Flycatchers" (page 5) on Lincs Bird Reports below.

At 3.30pm today at least 5 Spotted Flycatchers in the birch trees at the western end of the dry heath near the pond. Aidan, your possible Nuthatch may be a new record for the Reserve although I have seen him at the High Ropes Centre on the other side of the road.

Stuart,

Of the Spotted Flycatchers seen, did you manage to get an adult/juvenile split in numbers?

Freddy
PS.......a nice, late inland record.

Sorry, Freddy, I can't help - I was enjoying a walk with my wife and didn't have my binoculars.
