I echo Terry's congratulations, Richard,......it's just a bit disappointing that out of many thousands of birds seen of 101 species, not one Spotted Flycatcher was recorded.....a sign of the times, as they say......and, surprisingly, I noted that Rook, Long-tailed Tit, Tree- and House Sparrow were missing;....one bird escaped, I'm afraid, as your list totals 100.

Thanks Terry

I have not done a day list for years and I had not planed to do one when I only ventured out at 0700 yesterday. It really does focus the mind on how the species composition has changed over the years with losses and gains.

I am thinking about organising a 'big day' event next year for visitors who want to try for the 100 in a day - hope Richard will be about to help !!

On Saturday 8th Sept. at Belvide and Upton Warren in the West Mids they are doing an all dayer, if I'd been there on the day I would have done RSPB Middleton Lakes, I might give it a go at Gib instead,be interested to hear what others get at Gib on the day.

You do realise that you're the world's top birders for finding stuff at Gib - in a day...

I did do a count between 0815 and 1300 but only saw 56 species and missed an Osprey and Garganey I believe. Highlight for me was the 5 Spoonbill and 4 Wheatear. I think there was a Pintail on Jackson's but very few birds in the woodland areas.
For the record Belvide got 83 species and Upton Warren 79.
