Has anyone been able to get a picture of the Pectoral Sandpiper at Gib.?
I should be grateful for any shot that shows what the bird is.

Thanks

Roy

Hi Roy

I managed a few record shots when I found the bird and will include them with the description (which is already written).

Is the Pec Sand still around today? Possibly going tomorrow. Also where is the best place to seawatch at Gib?

The Pec Sand is still there Anthony on the Tennysons Sands complex of lagoons, or it was when I left at 1920pm this evening. Dont know how well you know Gib, I dont know it well at all but here are a few directions:if you park at the South end of Beach Car Park, cross over the road, go through the access point in the hedge line, turn left and then the next right, that will lead you to the Hide from where i saw the bird this evening looking left towards Jacksons Marsh. Think its called the Fenella Hope hide...? Not sure. Anyway, the bird was favouring a drying up muddy depression, not in the main pools.
Also seen:
6 x Spoonbills
22 x Greenshank
2 x Spotted Redshank
7 x Little Egret
2 x Dunlin
1 x Pintail
66 x Black Tailed Godwits
4 x Common Snipe.
Cheers,
Matthew.

Thanks James, had not realised that you found the bird.
As you know, a picture of a 'description species' always makes the task of the LBC Rarities Committee
that much easier!
Thanks also to Chris and Les for proving photo's.

Regards

Roy
