After spending 3 hours on the coast between Howdens Pullover and Rimac from where we were rained off, a visit to Manby Flashes produced a Spotted Flycatcher in the last garden on the left before the sewage farm. The flashes were as full of water as I've ever seen them and had 1 GC Grebe and 3 Dabchick along with at least 5 Tufted pairs. 2 Lapwings looked as if they may have been washed out.

Howdens had a steady passage of Swifts north at least 50 birds, plus 2 Cuckoos hanging around. Also 1 female Wheatear. No sign of any harriers from 11.30 to c 2.30 only raptors were I Buzzard and 1 Sparrowhawk. With JRC and AS.

There is an interesting looking excavation going on in the LWT grass field first left down to Seaview, new banks are being put around the edge of the field and the bank of the Eau is being taken out.

Anyone know what the plan is?

The works on the LWT field is to create some wet pasture suitable for waders/wildfowl , as you observed a new bank around edge of 8 acre field is being built and the river bank removed then the land will have some undulations created and resown with a suitable seed mix,
of course it will flood when the river is in spate so may not be entirely suitable for breeding birds but its an improvement on what was there
and who knows what may alight there? in the coming years.
regards John
