My visit to Kirkby Moor this afternoon (Wed) was curtailed by rain but there was still something to report :
Cuckoo calling repeatedly and then perching on an isolated small trackside bush c.100 yards from the Carpark and giving great views as it swooped down to the ground and back to the bush a couple of times. Wheatear - 2 males in much the same area.
I was pleased to meet up with Lincs birder Dave Andrew who took some photos of the Cuckoo and of the Wheatears, and had already taken a super shot of a Tawny Owl nearby.
I called in at Woodhall Spa on the way home and was able to check out the reported Nightingale.......see post below.
