Despite the weather, I spent another enjoyable afternoon today (BH Mon) Stilt-watching, etc., at Frampton Marsh RSPB. At least, now we are into May, the rain is getting warmer.
The presumed Frampton/Paxton /Frampton BW Stilt performed well, mainly in the wet meadows (L and R of the road) towards the seabank. It was still showing well as I was preparing to leave at c.5.00pm.
Highlights also included :
Drake Garganey showing well out in the open (for once) on a pool in the wet meadows
Ruff - a group of 5 dropped down in front of me, incl. males in their varied, gaudy (nearly) summer plumage.
Female Goldeneye still
Little Gull - 3 1st summers (From the Visitor Centre)
Yellow Wagtail.
Pleased to meet up again with Terry W. We talked about his recent trip to Scotland - look forward to seeing the full details on the web in due course, Terry.

PS. I never seem to come away disappointed from Frampton Marsh RSPB. There is ALWAYS something 'good' to see, the RSPB staff are friendly and informative plus their 'scopes are usually at the ready to show something interesting; the Visitor Centre and the Hides are first-class. Congratulations to John Badley, Senior Site Manager, and his team for running such an interesting and welcoming Reserve.
