As a result of Colin having alerted Russell, who put the news out on the web (thanks, one and both), I popped over to Frampton for the afternoon.
As I entered the Visitors Centre, I was greeted by Colin and Sheila, who immediately put me onto the two Black-winged Stilts and then the drake Scaup. Thanks again.
The two Stilts spent the afternoon in much the same spot ( as per Don's photo) and a Visitor Centre 'scope was constantly trained on them.
There was a strong, cold wind blowing, so I spent much of my time in the Visitor Centre and also 360 Hide. Birds from the latter included :
Drake Garganey - on the island to the left with the Swans' nest
Common Sandpiper
Yellow Wagtail
Ruff
Ringed Plover
plus -
good numbers of Brent Geese still around (estimated yesterday as 600+); also Little Egrets and Whimbrel. (See Colin's overall figures above)
Just before leaving at c. 4.00, I called in again at the Visitor Centre where they had the two BW Stilts and the drake Scaup in their 'scopes.
Finally, further to my LBC Bird Chat post of 1st May (Reporting that a bird "has gone "), I made a special effort for Andy S sake to locate the "reported Red-legged Stint"(?) but without success. I even checked with the RSPB staff but they just fixed me with a blank stare and were not very helpful. Clearly the bird "has gone".
