Further to the reported Black Tern, I arrived at Riverslea Pit at 5.45 this evening (Wed) and was later joined by Graham Hardy (as per the Slavonian Grebe yesterday evening).

We both enjoyed continuous views of the Black Tern as it repeatedly flew up and down the Pit.

There were 25-30 other Terns on the Pit and as far as we could establish, all were Common except for 2 Arctic.

A Little Gull swooping and dipping to feed from the water's surface was a nice surprise.
Also (incl.) :

7 Dunlin
2 Little-ringed Plovers
2 Little Egrets
Oystercatcher
Good numbers of Swallows and Swifts but only 1 Sand Martin was noted.

As we left the Pit at c.7.20pm, the Black Tern was still showing well.(Thanks, Don, for the original info.)

Graham and I also checked out the N/NE Pit but there was no sign of yesterday's Slavonian Grebe.
