On Saturday evening a Peregrine was hunting around St Botolph's in Boston town centre. I know that the usual suspects have installed a nest tray on the tower....can they indicate if a pair are in residence ?

Phil,

We suspect that they are breeding - but have no way of knowing for sure without disturbing them, so they are being left in peace until we can get confirmation from their behaviour, so would welcome any observations. Hopefully the nest site was a bit sheltered from yesterdays rain which took its toll on the Trent University Peregrine chicks, despite a very valiant 12hr continuus effort by the female to shield the chicks.

If anyone witnesses a pair, or food being brought in please let us know.

Alan

I'll keep an eye out - if there IS breeding, then I wonder how the birds will cope during May Fair week, which I believe starts on Thursday? All that noise and all those lights....

The May Fair shouldn't be a problem. Peregrines seem to get well used to the noise and commotion in town and city centres. The nest tray is not on the market-place side, so will be relatively sheltered from the additional noise.
