Not even a sniff of a report on here,just a photo?and the first female and only second record for Lincolnshire too.

Joe Pell is not a member of the birdclub, so he has no access to the forum. However, he sent me the following email....

"The female King Eider was originally ID'ed as a female Eider duck and at the same time, there was a flock of Scoters and Velvet Scoter flying round and we were taking pictures of them all. Tonight, I got an email from Steve Keightley and he was talking to Neil Smith about a bird that looked good for a female Eider. I checked my photos and found the bird and got the news out as soon as I found out it was a King Eider regardless of how late it may be. The bird may be quite difficult to view from land as it was about a mile out at sea nr Wrangle Marshes."

I wasn't on the trip, and I have no further information....

Do the Eiders in the area come closer in shore on spring tides or during any specific weather conditions to offer hope of a sighting from land and if so do local observers have an idea of where is the best spot to search from?

Try from near Leverton pumping station at TF436471. Adrian White reports 300 eider from here around 500m offshore at high tide....not had the chance myself yet.
