David headed his Stanton's Pit bird list "Sightings from the Car Park" and, in these days of sudden torrential downpours, a plus factor at Stanton's Pit NR is the very compact nature of the site. We enjoyed very good views of the male Ring Ouzel - a pity they didn't continue longer -from the Car Park. The latter is dominated by a nearby hill slope, on which the Ring Ouzels (3 on Tuesday morning) have shown at approx. TF 034173.

The Car Park also overlooks the Pit itself and that is another point for the RIB - the 'Really Idle Birder'. This Reserve will certainly be on my visiting list when I get old or elderly and become a bit unsteady on my feet. :D

Thanks Nick. Nice little reserve.
The Ouzel was still there at about 13:45 but elusive - on the a hill to the right off the path just before the small hide. It flew off away from the car park then a real downpour turned this reserve into a bog
Other highlights were
6 buzzards
3 chiffchaff
1 willow warbler
1 green woodpecker
1 grey heron
12 swallows

1 Male Ring Ouzel still present today at Stanton Pit on the slope to the left of the track to the bird hide.

Another little gem nature reserve, once again illustrates the value of being a member of the
