3 cranes cleethorpes in from the humber 11.15 hrs flying low south west over fitties area, came from west of spurn straight down the humber then turned inland, scoped from leisure centre.

same 3 seen riding thermals and gently moving se along coast from Rimac to Mablethorpe
follwed shortly after by 4 common buzzards doing the same, also seen today 3 white wagtails,
(sunny on coast and towering clouds and heavy showers along wolds)
John Walker and Cliff Morrison,
Peter and Janet Roworth saw, 2 wheatears 1 swallow and 1 reeling grasshopper warbler 2 singing willow warblers, Seaview to Rimac. regards John.

Thanks to John's call seveal birders were able to see the cranes come in from the north a Gib and drift out over the Wash.

Also a rough legged buzzard appeared simultaneously and drifted south - last seen hunting the sea bank south of the Wash Viewpoint at 3pm

Further to the story of the Cranes, 3 were seen flying East over Holkham in Norfolk at 2.48 pm. (RBA)

its strange but we have been here before, re my report 24th april 2010. exactely the same i picked up 3 cranes like today at extreme distance coming over from spurn way, picked up by multiple observers as they headed south through lincs to gib, over the sea to norfolk along the coast and overnight at holkham. i put them on birdline within 5 mins of todays sighting so watch your pager kev. todays birds were never closer than a mile and flybys, i put all my worthwhile sightings on here or birdline its a pity that the many people that take advantage of the info provided do not always return the favours that are freely provided for all.

Hi Terry, I'm not sure who the in crowd or in crowds are but clearly information does not always flow as swiftly as some/many would like, for whatever reason. I think this is something LBC should look at. I know that in Suffolk they have a very successful county wide text message system that ensures everyone taking part gets information very quickly. It is based on volunteers prepared to operate the system. Possibly you, Dean and Roger might be up for taking part in something like that?

Fair enough Terry, you are a busy man, I guess most people are and that is probably why information doesn't always flow as we might wish. The point is that if we could get a text system up and running hopefully alot of complaints like yours would disappear. It would need some volunteers to get it going, I'm not in a position to do it myself but I could see the value of it.

Otherwise its chill pills all round and there will usually be another bird along in the next thirty years.

I do not subscribe to any bird alerts and as Cliff Morrison and i were birding our local patch
and saw the 3 cranes we were unaware they had already been sighted,
i rang Kev re natterjack toad information and also mentioned the cranes might pass over Gib.

wasn't trying to get at you john or kev not in a million years, just from my own experience of the continued turning up at newly found goodies by the same people whilst you search the forum in vain for info and the only thing you find is a cracking photo with no site information where it was in our vast county or any report either.

dear all especially kev and john
i wasn't pointing a finger at anyone least of all you pair, just having a general moan, the meanderings of a pensioner who sometimes gets irked at a problem that is rampant in the birding world. the suppression of sightings and no info as to where when. example if someone says firecrest donna nook you have no chance of finding it you could be there for a year and have no luck. it will never change its just life, if i see something, my way is get the info out asap so all can enjoy. that's life i perhaps judge everyone by my own standards and that is my fault. everyone can do exactly as they like with their own records. so a big kiss to you all (but no tongues) :lol:
