Beginning of this week promised my self if well enough to have a day out locally, had hoped for my regular pal and a long-lost ex pal to join me but it didn't materialise, so had the mobile hide to myself  All the gear was packed along with plenty of sarnies and a flask of coffee and iced water. When I left home wasn't sure where I was going but here is where I went with a few nice surprises.

NISA Lake: early PM

Coot, Tufties, Mallard, Oyk - pr, Lapwing, Gulls, Teal and Jackdaw.

Winterton Floods: early PM

Bewick Swan - 2 [ Not 100% sure but 90%, main reason being the two birds in question were at the far end on land next to the water and the sun was doing a good job dazzling me, and as I cannot walk too well I stayed put]. A pair of Chinook helicopters came over north to south one each side of the water and put almost everything up including the swans. One of them came to the water's edge but still too far for a defo ID, not sure where the other flew too. If anyone is in the vicinity maybe they could check out if the bird/s are still there? Also had Teal, mallard, Tuftie, Coot, GC Grebe & L Grebe, Greylag, Canadas, Robin & Lapwing plus 100s gulls including one which I'm hesitant to mention on here because it's a schedule one bird. It was distant and mixed in with the black-headed etc, I've only ever seen one before at MSQ and it was very close. I'm almost sure the S1 bird has been seen on this stretch of water in the past.

Winteringham: mid PM

Buzzard - 1, Kestrel - 1, Mallard - 1. very quiet.

S Ferriby & Read's Island:

Saw my favourite raptor. Redshank, Sheduck, Greylag, Canada.

Bonby Carrs:

Kestrel - 1, Mutes - 2. Very quiet.

Worlaby Carrs: mid PM

Hen Harrier - 1, Yellowhammer - 1, Chaffinch, Magpie, Reed Bunts - 2m, Tree Spug - 1, Grey Partridge - 1, Starling - 30 & Mutes - 4. Noticed someone looks to have dumped a few tonnes of hardcore next to x-ing unless it belongs to the water board who were there. I see a load of trees have been cut back and the branches laid on the grass is this to prevent us going on the grass or what?

Grid Ref SE 9402: 1700 - 1735

Red-leg Partridge - 5, Pied Wag - 2, Coot - 2, Mallard - 1, Grey Heron - 1, Buzzard - 1, Song Thrush - 1. Met up with SW for a natter etc.

MSQ car park: 1745 - 1830

Saw Pheasant - 3pr, Willow Tit - 1, Coot - 2, Pochard - 6, Mallard - 1, Blackie - 1, Robin - 1, Snipe - 1, several Chaffinch, Kestrel - 1, LT Tit - 2, Reed Bunt - 1m, Moorhen - 1.

All in all a very enjoyable afternoon getting out the house and getting some fresh air! =D> Fell alseep in armchair not long after getting back and having a mug of tea.

Kind regards

John :D
