I visited Kirkby-on-Bain this afternoon (Fri). The 2 Drake Smew, which have been around for a few days now, were showing well on Riverslea Pit, up to 4.45 at least. Super birds.....and a nice early birthday present for tomorrow. :D :)

Pleased to meet up with Russ Telfer.

Hi Freddy
I saw them also at lunchtime, great to see as I haven't seen one since 2001 at Carsington. Also pleased to meet Russ and Mike Fisher.

Happy Birthday Freddy!

I pass the pits on tuesday when I have to go to HQ and I hope they will still be there. WeBS count at Holywell tomorrow, so maybe something good there.

Ian,

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
As I've said elsewhere on the web today, I can't believe that there is now only one year left of my vibrant, dynamic and electrifying middle age years. :)

My daughter who lives in Harlaxton (near Grantham) says there's an odd rumour going around in Grantham that 79 is "elderly", but as yet, it is still only a rumour and not confirmed.

I first saw the 2 Drake Smew on Riverslea Pit on Fri 24th February and they have been regular there since.......so Good Luck for next Tuesday.

Freddy
