A note from John Wheldon


A Great Grey Shrike was present today 28/10/ at 14:00 about 2/3 the way from Framton to Cut End side of river on Hawthorns, also 10 Fieldfares.

GG Shrike still present Sunday morning until 11.00h at least. Its been very elusive a lot of the time as its commuting to and fro across the Witham.
Also :

2-3 Purple Sandpipers in the wader roost on the rocks at the end of the river over the high tide (found by Ian Ellis and John Wheldon - thanks)
30+ Siskins over
7 Lsr Redpoll 6 over
1 Peregrine, hunting over Frampton Marsh
7 Little Egret

Phil, with aforementioned, plus Alex Parker, John Scarborough et al

Great Grey Shrike still present (1pm Thurs 3/11/11) in bushes near concrete bunkers.
Also 1 Purple Sandpiper at Tabs Head. The strong South Easterly wind sadly did not bring any pelagic birds that I could see between 1.10 and 3.15pm.
