Crane at 974167 this morning at 9a.m at Saxby. On the right of the track in setaside about 200yards before reaching the house.
White tailed eagle in trees to the right of the fish ponds at Ruckland. Farmer greatly displeased that 10 or so of us were trespassing in the field claiming damage done to his hedge etc. Be careful!
Cheers. Rick

I have been several times to Ruckland to see the eagle - the latest successful time was last week. Adequate views can be had from the private service road without going into the fields. It looks as though this bird could be a welcome long term feature for many people so I hope thoughtless behavour will not spoil this. The keeper in particular is very helpful but he has to protect the game under his care.

John, welcome to the Forum. It's refreshing to have a posting that is not whinging about farmers/gamekeepers etc. In a rural county we have to appreciate that they have their job to do and can be unco-operative when a number of birders suddenly descend on their land.

Personally,i got my best views of the bird when visiting, from the public footpath which goes past the fish ponds,no need to do any trespassing!.

Steve.
