While doing a Winter TTV for the BTO Atlas in Helpringham Fen I came across a tit flock and started checking through them for Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, as you do. I was encouraged to find a couple of Goldcrests among the 10 or so Long-tails and 7 Blue Tits and then found a Firecrest! A British tick for me. It can't be long before they start breeding in Lincs. I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open in the Summer. Also 3 Goosander on the South Forty Foot drain, 1m 2f.
