There are 3 Black necked Grebes on said pit, re- Roy Twigg.

One site with 4 species of Grebe! Not bad for Lincs.

1 red necked grebe in partial summer plumage on left pit. Also a probable hybrid tufted.
3 black necked grebe on right pit; 1 in summer plumage and 2 assumed juvs.
Also at Kirkby pit, from the hide, 1 kingfisher which landed on the post below the hide, 2 buzzards, 1 green sand, 1 avocet and 3 wigeon. Cheers. Rick with Rob Carr.

I've been asked by Cemex's Quarry Manager at the Old Woodhall Pit to point out that there is no public right of access along the haul road (that is past the large gates on the roadside). If you proceed along the track you are trespassing on a working quarry. Strict Health and Safety rules apply. They are very unhappy that people have even been taking the liberty of driving down the haul road and parking in the staff car park. Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust enjoy a good working realtionship with Cemex on this private site and I would ask birders to respect that this is an operational quarry.

We had a similar problem at the Kirkby on Bain quarry, when trespassing took place on a regular basis to see BN Grebes. That eventually tarnished our relationship with the site owners, through absolutely no fault of our own, as I'm sure LWT members would never trespass on working quarries!

Please be aware that your actions may have wider repercussions - Branston Island springs to mind.............

I found both these birds without even hopping over a fence, so both birds can be clearly seen from public land.
So this is good advice from Mr Bromwich....

I agree with David and can't imagine why anyone would go beyond the gate. The birds are clearly visible from the nearest point of access from the road, 30 yards before you reach the gates. Cheers. Rick
