Hi Katherine
Sounds like you had a great day out. Your Bullfinch record was also the first confirmed breeding of this species in TF36 (the 10km square in which Snipe Dales lies) during the current 2007 to 2011 BTO Bird Atlas. In fact none of the other species you listed has been confirmed as breeding in that square. TF36 has the biggest deficit of confirmed breeding species compared to the 1990 Atlas of any other square in East Lincs. There were 64 recorded in 1990 and only 25 so far in this Atlas period.
If you'd like to know more about the Atlas and how you can add roving records, visit
http://blx1.bto.org/atlas. Its very straight forward to register and contribute records. There is a function called Local Gaps which shows you which species have not been recorded in the squares around your postcode. It adds a new dimension to birding and you've inspired me to visit Snipe Dales for the first time in over 30 years!
If you'd like any assistance when you try the system out or if you have any questions please call me on 07966 325380.
Cheers
Phil
