Very cold afternoon on the patch produced a patch tick for me in the form of 4 Corn Buntings. Initially seen perched in the top of an ash tree by the Catchwater drain they then flew down to feed in a rough grass/barley field with c20 Reed Buntings. This is only the 2nd patch record with the 1st being a bird which Kev Durose saw in the early 80's. Dean & Nicola Nicholson came over and also saw them in the rough field.
Also seen this afternoon:-
12 Grey Partridges
2 Lapwings
1 Snipe & 1 Kingfisher (good to see these surviving) on the Catchwater drain which is the only open water
1 Great Spotted Woodpecker
1 Song Thrush
