Happy New Year to all! - Recent Gib sightings (mostly John Shaughnessy).

1st Jan - Iceland Gull - v coarsely marked juv showing some Kumleins characters.
water rail, 10 woodcock, 2 razorbill, merlin, peregrine, godcrest!, whooper swan 3 south

2nd Jan -massive Herring Gull influx c6000, Bonxie, greenshank, woodcock 24, Barn owl, light influx and southerly movement (185) of fieldfare but not as many as reported further up Lincs coast.

3rd Jan - Slavonian Grebe, snow bunting,

not sure that that Goldcrest is a credible sightings Kev -- I can see year listers dashing for it given the species abundance of late

That particular individual has been around for a couple of weeks now around Aylner Ave and there have been two along the cycletrack over the last couple of days.

What is more amazing is that today, I received a report that the female Dartford Warbler was still present on 1st Jan at the NNR boundary!

2 Cetti's still surviving the freeze at Barton and they had been quiet for about 2 weeks

2 goldcrests in my garden conifer this morning ! but it is 3.0oc with a 35 to 45 mph easterly thawing the laying snow and ice. c200 cormorants on the beach south of the haven. cheers John.
