Help needed in identifying a group of 7 grebe just downstream of Humber Bridge.

Medium sized, black top to head and down back of neck, white lower head and down front of throat (clear white, no grey), division between white and black very distinct. White bar at back of wing when raising itself out of water. No scope available so other features uncertain.

Slavonian grebe???

Could be from your description but more likely great crested in winter plumage and in that number

Thanks for that Chris.

The grebes seemed far too small for great crested, hence the confusion.

Thanks Graham, I'll cross them off the list.
