Re sundays sightings ,the record of 11 whoopers ,as they flew in i thought bewicks then after they had settled on the sea they showed a lot of yellow on the bill so i thought must be whoopers ,however i notice
spurn recorded, 11 bewicks south on sunday, so scrub my record. cheers John.

Hi John

The swans flew off just after you had left, I took a couple of pics and would have posted one to help with ID but as they were far off, looking at the photos it is nearly impossible to see any facial detail etc, even if I crop them in so I doubt any positive ID could be made on them. Pity I wasnt a bit nearer to them - that would have solved the mystery!

Glad you mentioned this John, i took a photo of what i thought were 11 whooper swans flying over the sea in the distance at Donna Nook around 2pm, could these be the same birds.

you can usually ID wild swans from structure without bill detail so any photos would possibly solve the riddle

The swans arrived c1420 hrs so will be the same as you observed Colin
