A walk round Rimac this morning produced
3 Little Egret
6 Barnacle Geese N
55 Pink-footed Geese S
1 Peregrine
1 Sparrowhawk
1 Wheatear

I then went N and along Fire Beacon Lane which runs along the N side of Cov Res and was rather surprised to see a
Glossy Ibis walk out of a ditch and fly into a tree. I stopped and reversed and it flew out and landed 100m in front of me on the road. I got some awful pics before a car came along which had to stop to avoid running over the ibis. It flew off in the general direction of Cov Res and despite searching I couldn't relocate it. Follow this link for a pic

http://www.lincsbirds.co.uk/album/displ ... pos=-11037

At Covenham Res
3 Grey Wagtails
100+ Meadow Pipits
2 Wheatears
and another birder told me he'd seen a Red-crested Pochard in the SW corner. I had a quick scan and a duck looking like one was very distant...

I just heard from Keith Robinson that the Ibis has been seen again, by the landowner, in fields near a private reserve which is to the E of Cov Res and which is partly visible from the E wall

I couldn't see it from Res yesterday but it's there this morning (per Keith Robinson via land-owner). Apparently it flew from private reserve towards res and landed between the two

Hi John,

Linda and I, along with Keith Robinson, Andy Sims, Rick Bennett, Steve Meek and Dave Bradbeer, had a good look round for the Glossy Ibis this morning but had not a glimpse. However, we were informed that before we arrived the bird had been showing very well in a field on the North side of Fire Beacon road and had been photographed at close range by Rob Hardy. We are all waiting to see your pictures Rob!
After three hours of searching we had to leave for domestic duties at home - decorating, so don't, know what happened this afternoon.

Thanks Roy - just contemplating a search party as I didn't have the previous one in Lincs.

Last seen this afternoon flying south about 200m from the east bank of Covenham res -- unless it was seen after 15:30

For people going over the weekend, where is the best place to go to get a good view?

Thanks

For those wondering about the Glossy Ibis, Keith Robinson tells me that it has not been seen in the Wragholme/Covenham Reservoir area since about noon last Sunday.
