note from Birdguides
11:33 08/09/09 Swallow E Yorks Spurn 11:10 21,000 south with 6,500 House Martins and 800 Sand Martins
there were also
12:45 08/09/09 Swallow E Yorks Sunk Island 5,600 and 450 House Martins through in 4 hrs and 380 Teal along the Humber
I was at Alkborough from 05:30 this morning and there was a constant stream of Swallows with lesser numbers of Sand Martins heading WSW to SW up the escarpment and then down the Trent; being busy with a survey I didn't get a proper count but there were at least 500 Swallows and 50 Sand Martins; much smaller numbers than above of course but birds had by then one assumes spread over a wider area as they moved south.
