He is Dave Robert,s posting from lincsbirders forum.........

"Marston,1.30pm.
Met a guy called Bob Wacey,we were chatting when a bird appeared overhead,we both immediately thought hobby, but soon realised it was something much different.I was very excited and thought-thats GOT to be an alpine swift! It was huge, white belly. Now Ive never seen one before, but everything seemed to fit until......as it flew away we both noted a large white rump patch.I would have been confident if I had,nt seen the rump.
Very frustrating.
The bird flew straight, steady and fairly slowly to the Nth.
Hope someone else picks it up.
Any thoughts from anybody appreciated.
Regards,
Dave."

Posted it here to get more help. Nothing more I can add, but can only stress how big it was (Ruled out Pratincole).

Thanks, Bob Wacey.

Have a look at some pictures of White-throated Needletail. The back patch can look quite white sometimes. Easy to recall a small falcon when first seen but less so than Alpine Swift. Just a suggestion.
