On the cattle corral by the reservoir until 14:30 at least.
Even rarer a drake red-breasted merganser on the (frehswater) reservoir.

Still there circa 17:15, when I got sight of it with Steve Keightley and three other people (amnesia means I can't remember their names!)

With my sighting of Black Redstart, that's Lifer 169 in the bag!

Also:

Goldeneye (several) on reservoir
Ruff
Curlew - plenty
Meadow Pipit - 2 displaying
R-B Merganser still on reservoir 17:15 looking utterly spectacular! :D
Avocets still on lagoon
Peregrine out on shoreline

Greenfinches and Chaffinches in good voice too.

Not realising how unusual the Black Redstart and Red-breasted Merganser were at Freiston Shore we headed off to Frampton Marsh where we encountered John Badley and gave him our sightings news.

Other sightings of note at Freiston - to us anyway:
Tree Sparrow 3
Avocet 36
Black-tailed Godwit c50
Dark-bellied Brent Goose c1500
Pale-bellied Brent Goose 1
Barnacle Goose 1
Little Egret 1
Goldeneye 4
Pink-footed Goose 2

And at Frampton Marsh:
Sparrowhawk 1
Wheatear 1 male
Little Egret 1
Twite 6 at least, in mixed flock with Linnets
White-fronted Goose 6
Pink-footed Goose 1 with White-fronts
Pintail 4

We feel that the new reserve at Frampton Marsh is so promising that it's Titchwell in Lincolnshire!

Regards,

Colin and Sheila
