Driving past Stainfield this morning I saw a Buzzard and a Red Kite soaring together. Looked just like a pair.
A quick look in Callan's Lane wood and found a flock of mixed Goldfinches, Siskins and Redpolls ( about a dozen in total) feeding on the flowers of elm trees.
Also noted:
2 Marsh Tits
2 Coal Tits
1 Woodcock
1 G-S Woodpecker - heard
1 Green Woodpecker - heard
1 Tawny Owl - heard
1 Jay
2 Mallard

Also of non-birding interest were: 70 Fallow Deer on setaside fields to the West of the wood, while inside the wood were 3 Muntjac, 5 Brimstone butterflies and lots of frogspawn in the ruts left by the recent logging operations.
