took a small group of local birders on a trip to find hawfinch today. left home at 07.20 hrs to go to the local pick up area around cleethorpes liesure centre and 50 yds from my home on lidgard rd were 44 waxwings. jetted to liesure ctr and returned with 8 of the twelve trip paticipants and they were enthralled at the sight of 44 beautiful birds feeding on a very small bush loaded with berries in the poor dawn light.
we also had a peregrine near tescos store in grimsby ctr. what a start to the day, and later on we found between 4/6 hawfinch including one very obliging female which gave everyone crippling views of this very elusive species. a great day out :D :D

ps other species on the trip of note were

8/10 buzzard
2 mandarin duck
3 goosander
3 sparrow hawk
2 raven
4/6 hawfinch
