The juvenile/1st winter Great-northern Diver found by Nigel Genn yesterday at Barton, was still present today, until at least 11.00 am.The bird is frequenting the sailing pit(The largest of the pit's to the east of Water's edge) and was showing very well while i was there. This is the first at Barton since the early 90's.Also on the pit's i had 2 drake Pintail, which eventually flew east.

Regards

Steve

The diver is a little unusual in that it has an elongated upper mandible.
See album

No sign of the Great Northern Diver on either Sailing Pit, Pit 25 or Ski Pit by noon today.

Incidentally, forgot to say in my original post, that this is definately the same bird as what was present at Welton Water on the north bank of the humber,as this bird also had an elongated upper mandible.

Steve.
