First visit to Worlaby this afternoon :)

5 Buzzards
2 Kestrel
Grey Heron
Lapwing
Few other Waders
Grey Partridge


Stayed on till around 4-15, but no sign of any SEO, maybe I left a little to early :?

Hi John,most times recently, the owls have not appeared until it is almost dark,on only a few occasions are they flying in relative day-light,if you had stayed for another half an hour iam sure you would have seen one.

hi John,
SEO"s are definitly not as easy to come across as they were years ago,recently i walked both sides of Winteringham Haven,normally i would have spotted at least one sometimes 2,especially at the whitton side but not now,incidently i once had 9 s e o s at Worlaby Carrs,thou thats a few years back.

I think the most Shorties we have had at Worlaby in past years is 16,iam sure Graham will correct me if iam wrong,the main reason in recent years for lower numbers is food supply,if there arn't any voles,there won't be many Shorties unfortunately.

A quick trip there today, 3.30 - 4.30pm.
Female hen harrier flew north, extremely good views.
Buzzard sitting in bushes to the north of the first drain. This flushed 3 short eared owls which then proceeded to mob the buzzard. Owls showed really well in the first field north of the car park.
Plenty of birders there.
