Post subject:  Dark Green Fritillary - Robert's Field - S. Lincs - 12 July

I visited Robert's Field (LWT) on the border of Lincolnshire and Rutland today with my son Alex. Despite the brisk wind and occasional cloud, which tend to restrict butterfly flight, we still managed to record over 20 Dark Green Fritillaries, c.12 Marbled Whites, a pristine Brown Argus, one (male) Brimstone, plus many Meadow Browns, Ringlets,Small Skippers and Whites.....and six-spot Burnet Moths.

Robert's Field and the neighbouring partner-field displayed an amazing selection of wild flowers including Pyramidal Orchid, Mallow, Scabious, Bellflower, Knapweed, Ladies Bedstraw, Yellow Rattle and Harebell.

(see photos in LBC photo album).
