Painted Lady starting to appear again. Two in my garden today and one in neighbours garden. Nectaring on Buddlia.
Plenty of nectar to go around as precious few Butterflies on the Buddlia so far this summer!!

Amazing 7 Painted Ladies in the garden today enjoying the Buddlia. But only 3 Red Admiral and 2 Peacock!

As you say, Ed, 7 is an amazing figure for Painted Lady this summer. It sounds like a new arrival batch for your area, although they could be the offspring of earlier arrivals.
Over here in Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln I've had 3 Red Admirals and 3 Peacocks on the Buddleia today (plus Meadow Brown, Small Tortoiseshell, Comma and the 3 Whites) but still no sign of Painted Lady. With the poor weather forecast for the next few days, I may well have to wait until next weekend for a possible sighting. At least, I managed to have excellent views of Vanessa (Cynthia) cardui in the impressive Butterfly Garden at Chambers Farm Wood yesterday on the Open Day. In deference to the scientific name, I even have a small thistle patch in my garden. Apparently, there was an abortive attempt to call the butterfly 'The Thistle' in the 18th century.

They are in such pristine condition Freddy that they probably are of local origin. There was an arrival in June which would probably fit in with adults emerging over the past week.
I have Hollyhock in the garden but not too many thistles - the caterpillars will eat Hollyhock.

Only 4 in my garden today. But on a cycle ride to Huttoft village I checked Buddlia bushed in roadside gardens and managed to find 13 Painted Ladies with 8 on just three bushes in Huttoft.

In between cloudy spells, I eventually had a rather worn Painted Lady visit the Buddleia in my garden in the sunshine today.

Only 2 in my garden yesterday Freddy. All the ones I have seen have been in pristine condition.
I suppose that they are now heading south with North Africa in mind? It seems that the Painted Lady migration is longer than that of the Monarch in North America.

Having just added the previous post I went into the garden and in the early sun I found 4 Painted Ladies sunning on a brick wall plus a further 5 on Buddlia or warming on bare patches of earth.
So 9 in the garden this morning is a record.
