Just got a bat detector
I know pips are at 45kHz but what about the rest
Anyone know where I can find out?

Have today taken delivery of The Bat Detective - a field guide for bat detection by Brian Briggs and David King. An excellent book describing how to get the best from your bat detector. It comes bundled with a CD of 48 tracks covering 13 bat species.

Hi,

Nocules = 20 Hz
Brown Long Eared = 30-35 Hz (by quiet!)
Pips - 45 Hz and 55 Hz

I too have a Bat Detector and really getting in to it this year

Can definitely say a Pipistrelle was chasing around my flat tonight
That's three floors up in Wilson Close - right in the polluted heart of Scunthorpe
Hopefully it caught some of those yellow underwings that live here with me

I can't make this, if I could I wold go - but it would be a good introduction to Lincs Bats...

LWT are running an intensive one day course to cover ecology of the bat species found in Lincs, their habitat and roosting requirments. A bat detector workshop and then outside aiming to find the 4 species found at Water's Edge.

Daubentons also call at between 45-50.

Since taking bat detecting up i've only picked up 5 different speies, all the most common ones... Both types of Pips, Daubentons, Brown Long Eared and Noctules :)

Can't verify how accurate these are, but they may be of help:

Pipistrelle(45)….45-50….wet smack
Pipistrelle(55) Soprano….50-60….wet smack dry at..55
Nathusius’s….38-42….plip plop
Brown Long Eared….40-45….geiger counter
Grey Long Eared….40-45….geiger counter
Barbastelle….35-45….castanet like dry smacks
Bechsteins….45-50…as whiskered but weaker
Daubentons….40-45…ticky tacky dry hard
Natterers….45-50….tick tick tick….40-100 range
Whiskered….40-50….loud dry clicks, slower than Natterers
Brandts….40-50….same as Whiskered
Mouse Eared….35-45..
Noctule….20-25….chip chop
Leiserlers….20-30….tune upwards
Serotine 25-30….tock(wooly)
Lesser Horseshoe….105-115…. quiet warble
Greater Horseshoe….80-85….quiet warble.
