Post subject:  Barnetby-Le-Wold Moth Bonanza.

Had a Moth trapping session in my garden last night,unfortunately rain stopped play at 12.00 am,but the following species are what we caught,in order of appearance:

Privet Hawkmoth - 1 found roosting on my garden shed before we had even set up,and a first for my garden too!!.
Small fan-footed Wave - 1
Small Blood-vein - 3
Snout - 4
Small-dusty Wave - 3
Smoky Wainscot - 11
Swallowtail - 4
Brimstone - 3
Riband Wave - 6
Yellow Shell - 1
Dark/Grey Dagger - 2
Small Magpie - 2
Buff Ermine -1
Willow Beauty - 5
Heart and Dart - 2
Buff Arches - 2
Common Footman - 1
Common Emerald - 2
Flame Shoulder - 3
Dark barred twin-spot Carpet - 1
Dark Arches - 5
The Flame - 3
Bright-line brown eye - 3
Light Arches - 1
Clay - 2
Peppered Moth - 1
Dot Moth - 1
Drinker - 1
Plain-golden Y - 2
Large-elephant Hawkmoth - 1
Large-yellow Underwing - 3
Double-square spot - 2
Uncertain - 4
Dusky Brocade - 1
Gothic - 1
Garden Pebble - 2.

In all 36 species in a very small garden,just shows what is out there.

A nice selection Steve - including two hawk-moths!

Another attempt at a Moth night last night in my garden, ended abruptly due to the gorgeous summer weather we are experiencing,the following species are what we recorded:

A Successfull session of trapping at last,albeit for just over 2 hrs(some of us do have to work),saw the following species recorded:

Another effort at trapping resulted in 3 new species for the garden,they where Common-marbled Carpet,Iron Prominent and two cracking Gold Spot(This was also a new moth for me).The full list is as follows:
