Managed to get my MV bulb out in garden overnight (29th June) and very pleased I did. Almost 300 moths of at least 68 species including:
Eyed hawk 1
Elephant hawk 2
Figure of Eighty 1
Silver Y 1
Plain Golden Y 1
Broad-barred white 2
Lime-speck Pug 1
Green Pug 1
Sallow kitten 1
Sandy carpet 2
Burnished brass 1
Buff-tip 1
Dwarf cream wave 1
Small rivulet 1
Phycitodes binaevella 2
Hypsopygia glaucinalis 1
Argyresthia pruniella (cherry fruit tortrix) 1
Most numerous species were Celypha lacunana, riband wave, snout, heart and dart, marbled minor type and Chrysoteuchia culmella.

Saturday 6 July was the best night of the year so far here in garden at Marton. With MV bulb/Skinner trap recorded about 400 moths of at least 85 species including:
Privet hawk 1
Elephant hawk 11
Coronet 2
Buff arches 3
Buff-tip 2
Beautiful hook-tip 1
Figure of Eighty 1
Swallowtail 1
Bee moth 1
Clay 5
Angles shades 1
Small angle shades 1
Barred straw 11
Green pug 1
Bordered white 1
Twin-spot carpet 1
Scarce footman 1
Anania coronata 1
Diamond-back moth 1
Green oak tortrix 2
Codling moth 2

Most numerous were marbled minor agg, snout, dark arches, riband wave and various grass veneers.

15 July 2013
Produced about 74 species including:
Poplar hawk 1
Elephant hawk 2
Privet hawk 1
White-line dart 1
Diamond-back moth 2
Coronet 4
Scarce footman 7
Poplar grey 5
Chinese character 1
Sandy carpet 1
Short-cloaked moth 1
Beautiful hook-tip 1
Barred yellow 1
Dot moth 1
Marbled beauty 2
Dwarf cream wave 2
Plus campion caterpillars noted on potted bladder campion and mullien moth caterpillars on buddliea.

Actinic lamp overnight produced about 230 moths of 68 species including:
Gold triangle 1
Pyrausta aurata 1
Anania coronata 1
White-line dart 1
Magpie 1
Silver Y 20
Diamond-back 1
Pebble prominent 1
Coxcomb prominent 1
Iron prominent 1
Surprisingly scarce footman (16) was more common than common footman (11) this time plus two dingy footman appeared.
Dwarf cream wave 1
Ruby tiger 1
Least yellow underwing 1

MV bulb out again in the garden on the 1st August produced a bumper catch of about 118 species (over 600 moths). Probably the hottest night of the year so far here.
High-lights:

Privet hawk 2
Elephant hawk 3
Orange swift 1
Silver Y 20
Diamondback 6
Leopard 1
Magpie 5
White satin 3
Dingy footman 2

Dusky thorn 1
Herald 4
Bordered pug 1
Wormwood pug 1
Limnacecia phragmitella 1
Calamotropha paludella 2
Chilo phragmitella 1

Plus the wierd looking leafhopper Ledra aurita which I've never seen before.

Did a couple of nights of trapping in garden for National Moth Nights (8-10 Aug 2013).

8th August: put actinic out and caught about 40 species including lots of silver y, a ruby tiger, several diamondbacks, 50+ water veneers, gold triangle and also attracted another treehopper Ledra aurita plus lesser stag beetle.

9th August: put MV lamp out and attracted about 61 species including ear moth, poplar hawk, Tinea trinotella, Epinotia ramella, 50+ silver y, dusky, early and canary shouldered thorns, six-striped rustic, scalloped hook-tip, nutmeg and another ruby tiger.

Although a bit chilly it was dry so I put trap (actinic lamp) out in garden overnight and produced 22 moths of 12 species including:
Black rustic 2
Pale mottled willow 1
Grey pine carpet 1
Silver Y 1
Lunar underwing 6

Mallow 1 (photo)
Canary-shouldered Thorn 1 (photo)
Dusky Thorn 2
Pink-barred Sallow 1 (photo)
Beaded chestnut 2
Silver Y 1
Rosy rustic 2
Small dusty wave 2
Turnip 1
Limnaecia phragitella 1
The by-catch included several wasps, lots of craneflies, a small tortoiseshell and the burying bettle, Nicrophorus investigator.

Actinic lamp out in garden overnight produced about 79 moths of 23 species.
Most numerous were the usual yellow underwings plus setaceous hebrew character, beaded chestnut, lunar underwing, common wainscot and garden rose tortrix. Others included:

Dusky thorn 1
Rosy rustic 1
Willow beauty 1
Pale mottled willow 1

Had actinic lamp out in garden overnight (4 Oct) with following results (75 moths of 28 species) including:
Yellow-lined quaker 2
Red-lined quaker 1
Angle shades 1
Burnished brass 1
Dark chestnut 2
Black rustic 1
Green-brindled chestnut 2
Blair's shoulder-knot 2
Large wainscot 1
Pink-barred sallow 1
Grey shoulder-knot 1
Beaded chestnut were the most numerous (39)
and a very late (or second brood?) beautiful hook-tip.

By-catch included hawthorn shieldbug, Nicrophorus humator and lots of craneflies.
