A Common Redpoll was a surprise capture today whilst ringing Siskins (70+ today) in Bob Sheppard's garden. Although on its own, it was markedly different from Lesser Redpoll being distinctly more grey and with a wing length of 77mm. This was very much a surprise as we have not even caught any Lesser Redpolls this year!
