Although fairly quiet with very little movement as yet, I ringed three Lesser Redpolls near Walesby Moor today as well as 14 Great Tits! This is a regularly ringed site so the latter must have been on the move as there were no retraps amongst them.

Stuart,

Are the Redpoll resident throughout the year at Walesby? i noticed that the field that was so attractive to the Redpoll and Bullfinch last winter(next to caravan park) has been ploughed right down :(

Also have you seen much in the way of Crossbill? i tend to visit the site throughout the colder months, but my couple of trips so far haven't produced any.

John

These were the first Lesser Redpolls I have seen at Walesby since April. I haven't seen or heard Crossbills in the Market Rasen area woods since May.
