As many know, some foreign Ringing schemes are notoriously slow at submitting records and notifying other schemes. On 3rd November 2012 Martin Sizer caught a Chiffchaff at Donna Nook bearing a Portugese ring. We have just been informed that it was ringed on 3rd March 2012 at Paul da Tornada in Portugal some 1708 kilometres away. It would appear to have been ringed on its way to breeding territory and was trapped on its way back - not bad for a bird that weighed less than a pound coin!
