Post subject:  Does anyone read this section?

In view of the obvious anti ringing bias on this Forum, is there anyone interested in this section? I have serious doubts as I appear to be one of very few contributors. A response or lack of it will tell me if it's worth contributing in future.

Hi Stuart,

I always read the ringing reports. Please continue with them.

Yes,

more to the point - are you the only ringer who is a member of the forum?

A valid point, Andrew - thanks for the support of the others - I'll carry on!

I'm a fellow ringer but unfortunately I'm away with work quite a lot. Was fortunate enough to take part in the awesome weekend in October. It is a shame that for such a big county we have so few ringers. With all the good work and records achieved with ringing it would be nice to get some fresh faces and sites going. All the best for the spring Stuart, and everyone else who is out and about.

If anyone is interested in ringing/migration in the county, then Gib Point Bird Obs does have a Yahoo group where we post updates and interesting ringing news (recently including details of a Dutch Sandwich Tern and a Swedish Common Tern caught on the 2005 ringing course, and a 5-day movement of a Swedish-ringed Goldcrest to Gib).

If you'd like to join the group, drop me an email at mark.grantham at bto.org and I'll send you an invite.

I should not be such a cynic. There is obviously a great deal of interest in the scientific side of birding and I am delighted that Alan Ball, one of the county's most active and long standing ringers, has joined the Forum.
