Details on a colour-ringed Twite that was amongst a flock of 200 Twite at Brickyard Lane on 1st November

Left leg: Green over metal
Right Leg: Blue over white

Caught & ringed as recently as 12/10/2014 just outside of Rippenden, S Yorkshire, when showing showing markedly juvenile type tail feathers, so hatched this year in the South York moors somewhere near by.
It was caught in a flock of around 25 birds and has travelled c160km to reach Brickyard Lane.

A big thanks to Jamie Dunning for his prompt reply with details on this bird.

Jamie is jointly running the Twite ringing project in the southern Pennines and is keen to hear of any further sightings of colour-ringed Twite, click below for further details

Same bird again present this morning at Crook Bank. The only colour ringed bird amongst a fairly accurate count (eventually!) of 224 Twite. Also 3 Norwegian ringed GBB Gulls.

Nige
