Ringers will know that the chances of a ringed nestling being caught elsewhere are remote but the odds of two from the same brood are one in several thousands. On 30th June 2012 I ringed a brood of 4 Swallows near Market Rasen Racecourse. I've just found out that Y612762 was controlled by Gibraltar Point ringers on August 8th and Y612763 was controlled by Birklands RG ringers at Theddlethorpe St Helens on 21st August! Such results make it all worthwhile.

Indeed so Stuart I remember ringing a brood of 4 swallows at Seaview (nnr) about 30 years ago,
and picking up a road killed bird nearby 3 years later and finding it was one of that ringed brood,
Also Nige Lound Nick Tribe and i spent a week in southern Portugal early novenber , we gathered
some 25 colour/digit marked ringed lesser black back and audouins gulls and Nige has recieved some
very interesting returns including an auduoins ringed in 1989 !, and not recorded since 2002 (Nige had digiscoped it so confirming our sighting.).
regards John.
