Colour-ringed Herring Gulls at Leadenham Tip

Herring Gull - Adult with orange ring 0923
Herring Gull with orange ring 0923 was ringed on the 21st January 2004 on Gerrards Cross landfill, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire (SU965895) as an adult, with metal BTO ring number GN77377. There has been one other sighting of this bird since it was ringed- on the 19th December 2008 at Zeebrugge, West Vlaanderen, BELGIUM, co-ordinates 51.20N 03.12E. It has been at Leadenham Tip since 26th Sept 2011.

Herring Gull - Adult with orange ring 2453
Orange 2453 was ringed on the 13th May 2011 on Seamer Carr landfill, near Scarborough (TA038820) , as an adult with metal BTO ring number GN77709. I have received no other sightings of this bird since it was ringed.

It is interesting that these two birds were ringed in opposite directions from Leadenham, although several years apart, but it shows how mobile the gull population in the UK is.
