Holywell Lake: A mixed wood with some good scrubby areas.
Little grebes -pair
Mute swans - 2 pairs one on nest
Canada Geese
Greylag geese
Mallard - several pairs one with ducklings
Gadwall- 1 pair
Wigeon -2
Tufted Duck - 8
Coot - 2 nests
Moorhens
1 Common Buzzard
2 Swallows
Green Woodpecker 1

Holywell Wood
s = singing males
Grey partridge 2
Grasshopper Warbler 1s
Garden Warbler 2s
Blackcap 5s
Willow Warblers 7s
Chiffchaff 5s
Nightingale 1s
Willow Tit 1
Lesser redpoll 2
Bullfinch 6
Buzzard 2
kestrel 1

Also walked in the adjoining Pickworth wood which lies over the border in Rutland. This differs fro Lincolnshires Holywell Wood in that it is a mature deciduous wood. Only different birds were 2 pairs of Marsh Tits, pair of Mallard and a Whitethroat.

A total of 60 species this morning - not bad for an inland location.
