Early summer tetrad count: 46 species. Of most interest:
6 reed bunting
1 sedge warbler
1 little grebe
3 blackcap
2 shoveller
11 shellduck
2 little egret
7 greylag
1 common gull
1 swallow
7 yellowhammer
1 lesser whitethroat
4 whitethroat
Results might have been better but :
grass cutting taking place on the dykes
new fence posts being inserted by farmer with VERY loud hammer
hedge in field towards hide cut within the last few days (a bit late?)
Returned home to find sparrowhawk decimating the local bluetit colony!
