Post subject:  Kirkby Moor

Took a trip inland to alleviate the boredom of the continual coastal gloom and mist. A fine couple of hours at Kirkby with prolonged display by the spitfire and hurricane.

Birds included

Redpoll 4, kestrel, sparrowhawk, jay, coal tit 4, chiffchaff 9, blackcap 5, willow warbler 4, tufted duck 5, pochard 5, green woodpecker 3, siskin 2, bullfinch 2, song thrush, treecreeper and 2 little owl.

A two minute scan over the main Kirkby pit on the way back; green sandpiper, goosander, little ringed plover 2, great crested grebe 15 and gadwall 45( seemed very high numbers for mid April ?). Then distracted by the Lancaster that was airborne for 10 minutes !

Regards

Kev
