Group of 6 swallows - does that constitute a flock? - along the Welland bank down the side of the reserve. Also saw, on this glorious spring day:
Flock of fieldfare
2 male reed buntings
Gadwall - pair
Goldeneye - 12
Tufted - numerous!
GC grebe - dozen on the reserve, numerous along the Welland
Little grebe - 6
Green woodpecker
Kingfisher - 2
Sparrowhawk
Merlin
Kestrel - 2
Mute swans - 3 on the lake, numerous on Welland
Canada geese - c20
Barnacle geese - 3 on car park lake
Oystercatchers - 5 on car park lake, 3 on Welland
Lapwing - numerous
BH gulls - numerous
Lesser black backed gull - 1
Heron
Also robin, chaffinch, blue tit etc. On the down side, the main hide was severely vandalised on Monday night - screens ripped down, sides kicked out, window sills ripped out, and a couple of fires started. Mindless.
