A good day at Manby today, the highlights were:

American Wigeon - a drake first seen at 10:55 approx
Whooper Swan 2
Little Egret 4
Swallow 4
Sand Martin 1
Common Buzzard 1
Pink-footed Goose 10 - circled the Flashes a couple of times and headed off to north.

Regards,

Colin and Sheila

No sign of American Widgeon at 17.00 (also checked Levee Doors just in case). Whoopers and swallows still present, plus little owl on fence post near the hide.

So how come news wasn't put out yesterday evening? I suppose its not rare enough so no one could be bothered?

Don't get me wrong I'm not having a personal jibe at anyone here but reporting a bird a day after it has found is something of the past, there doesn't seem much point to me.

Even if it had got out late the previous night, people still could have gone for morning (I don't need it for Lincs but would like to see a drake in the county). Sadly by the time news had come out it was too late to get there before it was flushed.

Simple question, no nastiness or bitterness intended whatsoever, but why?

Just got a phone call from Steve Tarrant, he saw the A Wigeon but flew off, he checked the sight the following morning not to be seen, Steve a great chap and always put reports out ...
